You can now use Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) with confidence to help with temporarily being unable to smoke.
Both Nicorette Gum and the Nicorette inhalator are licensed for use by people who still want to smoke, but are required to abstain for a period of time. You can buy these products at your local pharmacy.
It is an ideal way to adjust to smokefree shifts, especially night shifts, allowing you to feel more comfortable, with reduced cravings.
Once off duty, you can resume your normal smoking pattern, without NRT.
Smokers report that this is a great way of cutting down, but often they will find it motivates them towards a complete quit.
If this happens, you can then register with the STOP! and get tailored support to quit smoking completely, without having to pay full price for your NRT.
STOP! has a wide range of sessions for you to chose from, in many city pharmacies, some GP clinics, and
some community centres.
For more information, about the most convenient place for you to get support, ring STOP! on 0116 295 4141.
It’s a free, friendly NHS service, and it really works!
